Leviathan & King Moggle Mog XI Extreme

Hey guys, how are you doing?

Those days I finally killed Leviathan Extreme and fat King Moggle Mog XI Extreme.
The fight with Leviathan is really... weird. I didn't enjoy it at all, because it includes you to turn around your camera like mad, hoping to see where the giant Primal comes from. I got a rather small screen compared to others, and I really got a hard time seeing something, but that might just be me lacking practise. In the videos I watched the people had a way bigger view, though (and yes, of course I'm talking about max distance). But yea, honestly, I really didn't enjoy it (and I actually enjoy a lot of fights). My head was hurting from all the camera-spinning.

Oh well, the first and second time I died and died, but the third I kinda did okay-ish, I guess. Didn't get hit badly or anything, so I will just have to practise a bit more. At least I got really lucky: Say hello to my new Wave Bow!
Ugly, right?! But the stats are very good for Bard.

The battle against King Moggle Mog XI Extreme is really awkward too. This time the small Moogles won't die and you can't just randomly kill one by one. Every Moogle still got it's special ability, and the DPs have to watch out for the Black Mage and the White Mage to interrupt their spells by attacking them. I really enjoyed this weird battle, we died a lot but in the end I got lucky again:
A new accessory for my Tank classes: The Ribbon of Fending!

While I died during this battle, I got stuck... sitting! Yea, that was reeeeally weird, but take a look by yourself:
By the way, I will be moving soon, so I won't have static internet for quite some time. Just so you know!

Guide: Book of Skyfire I - Completion

1. Enemies
You have to kill 10 enemies of each kind listed below (that makes a total of 100 foes).

Daring Harrier
Location: Mor Dhona - The Fogfens
There are only a couple of mobs around, and it's highly likely that they have been already killed. Just camp those locations and they will spawn on you.

5th Cohort Vanguard
Location:  Mor Dhona - Castrum Centri
They are huge, so you can barely miss them. I found 5 of them in total, so here again: Don't leave if you don't find any of them, they might just respawn soon.

Giant Logger
Location: Coerthas Central Highlands - Boulder Downs
Those are a bit annoying to find. I think I found a total of 3 Giant Loggers... but I might have just been blind! Just keep your eyes open. Don't mix them with the Giant Luggers by the way.

Shoalspine Sahagin
Location: Western La Noscea - The Sapsa Spawning Grounds
Yet again, there are just a couple of them. I found them mostly spawning next to the doors.

Synthetic Doblyn
Location: Outer La Noscea - U’Ghamaro Mines
The Synthetic Doblyns are not that hard to find and there is quite a few of them.

2nd Cohort Hoplomachi
Location: Eastern La Noscea - Castrum Occidens (TP to Wineport)
They are inside and outside of the small "castle", so check both locations for the respawn.

Milkroot Cluster
Location: East Shroud - The Sylphlands
Suuuch a long way to get to the location where the Milkroot Clusters are spawning.

4th Cohort Hoplomachi
Location: Western Thanalan - Cape Westwind
There aren't too many of them. When there is a bunch of people farming them, I recommend to stay at the entrance because there are 2 of them spawning close to each other.

Zanr'ak Pugilist
Location: Southern Thanalan - Zanr'ak
They are on top of the mountain (enter like the red arrow shows).

Location: Northern Thanalan - Bluefog
They are really easy to find, because they are literally everywhere. You should also do the Levequest called Necrologos: Pale Oblation, because you can take it directly in Bluefog (see 4. Leves).

2. Dungeons
You have to complete the following 3 dungeons in order to complete this category:

  • The Tam-Tara Deepcroft
  • The Stone Vigil
  • The Lost City of Amdapor

3. FATEs
Your next task is to complete 3 special FATEs. I recommend to camp on the shown location, because you will have to get a gold medal in order to get it done - and this can be rather difficult if you have to run to the spot first.

Giant Seps
Location: Coerthas Central Highlands
I found this one being a pain because it didn't want to pop. Might have just been me missing it all the time though... While waiting for this FATE you should do the Levequest called An Imp Mobile (see 4. Leves), because it's just next to it.

Make It Rain
Location: Outer La Noscea
This one seems to pop rather often.

The Enmity Of My Enemy
Location: East Shroud
This is a two parts FATE, so don't wonder why you are not getting rewarded for the first one. I was feeling scammed at start, haha!

4. Leves
Now there is only one category left: Levequests! You have to do 3 special Leves, so be sure to have enough allowances ready. In case you don't find the right Levequest at the NPC, you will have to initiate other Leves before and hope that they will spawn after. Or else: Try to come back another time.

Necrologos: Pale Oblation
Location: Northern Thanalan - Camp Bluefog
Talk to Rurubana <Levemete>, who is located in Camp Bluefog, and choose Battlecraft Leves. From there, simply initiate Necrologos: Pale Oblation.

An Imp Mobile
Location: Coerthas Central Highlands - Whitebrim Front
Talk to Lodille <Serpent Sergeant> in Whitebrim Front and select Maelstrom Leves. Don't worry, you don't have to be a part of that Grand Company. Simply choose An Imp Mobile and start the weird poke-ing quest.

The Awry Salvages
Location: Mor Dhona - Saint Coinach’s Find
Talk to Eidhart <Flame Sergeant> in Saint Coinach’s Find and select Order of the Twin Adder Levequests.

Congratulations, the Book of Skyfire I is now complete!

Guide: The Trials of the Braves (Books to upgrade your Atma weapon)

This guide will show you how to complete "The Trials of the Braves" - 9 books that you need to complete to upgrade your Atma weapon into the Zodiac version (PLDs need 7 books for the weapon, 2 books for the shield). Each book costs 1.500 Tomestones of Mythology and they add different stats to your Atma weapon. It doesn't matter which book you take first, but of course you should choose the stat that is the most useful to you. Sadly you can only start obtaining those books once you've completed to farm the 12 Atmas.

To get a book, talk to G'jusana in Mor Dhona and choose "Trials of the Braves Exchange". After that you will be able to choose from the following books:
Once you confirmed the order, the specific book will get placed into your key item bag.

You can now left-click the book and "Use" it. This will open a nicely designed interface, which you are going to hate pretty quickly.
On the very top you will see what exactly the book will add to your weapon (+2 DEX in this example). However, there are 4 different categories to complete before the stats are actually applying.

1. Enemies
You will have to defeat a total of 100 enemies - 10x10 different kinds. The most annoying part here is that most of them are actually overfarmed right now, and there is in general just a couple of them spawning.

2. Dungeons
Complete a total of 3 different dungeons (you have to kill the boss of each dungeon to get it done).

3. FATEs
This is the most annoying part in my opinion. You need to participate in 3 different FATEs in different zones. You might laugh now and say "just 3", but what makes it so annoying is that most of the FATEs don't really spawn often so you might end up just camping one spot for quite a long time.

4. Leves
And last but not least: Complete 3 different Levequests. This is pretty easy and quickly done, just make sure that you got enough allowances left.

After you completed every single task, the stats are being added directly to your Atma weapon. Once you got enough Mythology Tomes for the next book, the first one will get removed from your key item bag.

The Books (Completion Guide)

Let's take a closer look at each of the books. Simply click on the name from the list below to get detailed information on how to complete every task inside the book. The tasks for the books are the same for every class by the way - they will just add different stats.

More books will follow soon, because I don't have them yet. Stay tuned, I'll let you know when I update this guide.

Easter Event: Hatching-tide 2014

First of all: I wish you all a Happy Easter! I hope you all enjoyed the small easter holiday together with your family. ^_^

Even the people in Eorzea took their time to celebrate. The currently running easter event in FFXIV is called "Hatching-tide" and it couldn't be a better time to talk about it, right?!
All the main cities are decorated with giant (and small) eggs. The whole event is featuring a total of 4 parts, which got unlocked a couple days after each other (same than in the previous Lightning event).

To start the quest line the player has to talk to a NPC in Limsa Lominsa (Upper Decks) and will have to finish several tasks. You mostly have to find another player and wear different kinds of easter hats that you could get by finishing the quests or by buying them at the merchant for just a couple of gil. While wearing them, your task is to deliver a specific easter egg to another place without getting caught by Spriggans. For the last part you will need a total of 4 players with each of you wearing a different egg-hat. You also got the chance to farm some eggs that have little surprises inside of them by farming Coddled Spriggans all around Eorzea. The official event website features a complete guide and shows you all the fashionable items that you can get:

I have to say that I am not a big fan of this event. Because I didn't have much time at start I had a really hard time finding players to finish it (big thanks to Shuu Naranol who helped me getting most of the parts done!). The hats are funny though and you can even store them in your Armoury Chest!

Here are some screenshots that I took, together with the cute Lalafell Sanguisio Alorea and also Duncan Donut (the fat one!). Thanks for joining, was a lot of fun to take screenshots together!

Guide: Atma & Zodiac Weapons

2.2 offers the possibility to upgrade your Relic Zenith weapon into a more powerful version of it. However, it is a bit complicated to understand everything. I found myself being quite lost at the beginning, and I guess I am not the only one.

The guide is not done yet, I am still working on it. I will let you know once I update it!

Step 1: Start the quest and farm Atmas
Have a Relic Zenith equipped and talk to Gerolt, the blacksmith in North Shroud. A new NPC called Jalzahn will appear and he will introduce you to the 12 Atmas that you will have to farm now.
The Atmas are located in 12 different zones and you can obtain them by joining any FATE in that region while having a Relic Zenith weapon equipped.

Every FATE has the chance to drop an Atma - low or high level doesn't change anything. You don't have to be in a group and the drop is completely random. Have patience, because it might take you a while to get a drop. You can also obtain more than 1 Atma of the same kind - so basically it is possible to farm a lot of Atmas with only one class and use them for other classes. (Confirmed, because it happaned to me)

How to notice that you got an Atma?
After completing a FATE a small window pops up eventually, telling you what Atma you got. Have in mind that an Atma is not a quest item, so it will be placed in your normal inventory bag. Make absolutely sure that you got enough space in your inventory - to literally avoid drama.

Atmas and their locations:
*Some locations in the questlog are wrong - the locations below are 100% correct and I can confirm it

Eastern Thanalan: Atma of the Bull
Western Thanalan: Atma of the Twins
Southern Thanalan: Atma of the Scorpion
Central Thanalan: Atma of the Scales

East Shroud: Atma of the Goat
North Shroud: Atma of the Archer
Central Shroud: Atma of the Maiden

Western La Nocea: Atma of the Crab
Outer La Nocea: Atma of the Lion
Middle La Nocea: Atma of the Ram
Lower La Nocea: Atma of the Fish
Upper La Nocea: Atma of the Water Bearer

Step 2: The books
After collecting all the 12 Atmas, you will have to exchange them to get an upgraded version of your Zenith Weapon, called "Relic Name" Atma. To do so, you will have to visit Jalzahn in North Shroud again. Be sure to have another weapon for your current class/job in your inventory, because you will have to unequip the Relic Zenith. While talking to him, select the option "Relic Weapon Zenith Enhancement".
The new weapon will change the color and... it will also keep the original stats of your old Zenith!

Scam?! Nah, you will now get the chance to upgrade the weapon.

The quest will now sent you to Mor Dhona and you will have to talk to a young Mi'qote named G'jusana. She will tell you that you will now have to farm 9 special books - each of them will cost you 1.500 (!!!) Tomes of Mythology. The real grind begins now!

Once you got your tomes, you can buy any of the 9 books. The order doesn't matter - you will have to buy every book anyway. But you should go for the stats that are useful to you first, of couse.

Have in mind that you are not getting the stats for free, though. Once you obtained a book, you'll find it placed inside of your key items bag and you can leftclick on it to use it. It opens up a nicely designed interface that will tell you what you will have to do now to unlock the stats that it gives.
The first tab is equal to a hunting log: you will have to kill special mobs on different maps - 10 mobs of a different kind - that makes a total of 100 mobs.

The second tab tells you which 3 dungeons you have to complete.

The third tab shows three different, special FATEs that you need to do... Sadly this can be really annoying, because some FATEs just don't want to show up and it might involte some camping.

And last but not least - in the fourth tab you will have to complete 3 different Leve-Quests. Locations and names are given if you hover over any of the pictures. Not a big problem here, just make sure that you got enough allowances.

I will release a full guide how to complete any of the 9 books in detail once I got all of the books by myself.

What happens if I completed a book?
Congratulations, the stats will now get added to your Atma weapon. The book will remain in your quest item bag for now.

Step 3: Zodiac Weapons
At this point I didn't unlock step 3 yet. I will add further information and a detailed guide once I am able to look into that by myself.
